Renee Crawford

Renee Billings Crawford is a native North Carolinian.  Renee received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon in 1986 and her Law Degree from Duke University in 1996.  Renee practiced law with her husband in Raleigh for 15 years and raised their two children.  In 2015, Renee began her life-long dream of working full time as a professional artist.  Renee paints in oil, focusing on portraits, figurative studies, still life and landscapes.

She is drawn to color and beautiful brush strokes, hoping to keep her work as abstract yet realistic and beautiful for as long as possible.  She has studied with international Master Impressionist Jerry Fresia, as well as with nationally-known artists Michelle Dunaway, Dan Gerhartz, Albert Handell, John Poon, Dan Beck and Dawn Whitelaw, as well as Raleigh’s own Nicole White  Kennedy and Dan Nelson.  Her major influences are Joaquin Sorolla, David Leffel, Richard Schmid and Charles Movalli.  Renee is a juried member of Oil Painters of America, as well as a member of the American Impressionists Society and the Portrait Society of America.
